A fascinating video about the South African animator William Kentridge and his working process. It feels very liberating to start out with a documentary photograph and then constructing a narrative as one works. Kentridge was famous for depicting the apartheid between white and black people in South Africa through the use of animation. Here is a collection of his animations called 'Pain & Sympathy':
